Greetings from the Fort Bend Report, an independent blog about goings-on in Fort Bend County, Texas, one of the fastest-growing and most diverse counties in the United States.
My name is Ken Fountain. Some of you may know me as the final editor of the Fort Bend Star, a community newspaper that served the county from 1978-2026. While my tenure in that role has ended, I find that I’m not quite ready to give up writing about this fascinating place, a suburban Houston community that is undergoing rapid demographic, economic, and political change.
This blog will mostly be reportorial in nature, but will also include commentary from time to time. When I’m providing commentary instead of straight reporting, I’ll make that clear. By no means will blog try to provide a comprehensive view of Fort Bend. I simply do not have the time or bandwidth to attempt that. But I hope the experience and knowledge I have gained about the county and its people and politics can add some perspective.
